Overview

This project focused on transforming a large International Monetary Fund (IMF) report into a fully interactive website designed to make complex economic research more accessible and engaging. Instead of publishing the report as a traditional static document, the goal was to create a digital experience that allows users to explore the content through structured navigation, interactive sections, and a clear visual hierarchy.

Working within a cross-functional team of strategists, developers, and content specialists, we designed and built a live website that presented the report in a way that was easier to read, navigate, and share. The project aimed to preserve the depth of the research while improving usability and accessibility for a global audience.

The problem

Large research reports are often distributed as static PDFs, which can make them difficult to navigate, especially for users looking for specific insights. Readers typically need to scroll through long documents, search manually for sections, and interpret dense content without interactive guidance.

As a UX Designer on the project, I focused on structuring the report content into a clear and intuitive digital experience. My work involved organizing the information architecture of the report, designing page layouts that improved readability, and ensuring that long-form content could be easily navigated by users.

My role

As a UX Designer on the project, I focused on structuring the report content into a clear and intuitive digital experience. My work involved organizing the information architecture of the report, designing page layouts that improved readability, and ensuring that long-form content could be easily navigated by users.

I collaborated closely with strategists, developers, and content teams to translate the report into modular web sections. This included designing reusable components, defining navigation patterns, and supporting the implementation process to ensure the final website aligned with both editorial and technical requirements.

Approach

The first step was to reorganize the report’s structure into a format that could work effectively on the web. Instead of presenting the document as a single continuous page, the content was broken into clearly defined sections with structured navigation that allowed users to move easily between chapters and topics.

The visual design focused on improving readability and clarity by introducing consistent typography, spacing, and layout patterns that supported long-form reading. Interactive elements and modular components were introduced to help users explore data and insights more effectively while maintaining a clean and accessible presentation.

Outcome

The final result was a fully interactive website that presented the IMF report in a format that is easier to navigate and more engaging to explore than a traditional document. Readers can move between sections quickly, focus on key insights, and interact with the content in a way that supports deeper understanding.

By transforming the report into a digital experience, the project expanded the accessibility and reach of the research while preserving the integrity of the original publication. The modular design also allows the platform to support future reports and content updates more efficiently.
